Beast Mode for Pink Friday | #LillyForTarget

#LillyForTarget Haul

So… who doesn’t have a crazy #LillyForTarget story? Maybe it’s because I grew up in Florida and live in the South but EVERYONE I know shopped at Target to battle it out for a pink and green shift on the 19th.

Some stayed up all night scrolling through the #LillyForTarget feed for the elusive mobile links that led to rompers, and home wares before the official launch time. Some, like myself, staked out their local target and waited, for what seems like forever, for them to open before running through the aisles grabbing nail files, makeup bags and the #HolyGrail espresso mugs.

I visited the Target in Little Five Points (an all around hipster target) and got there around 7:20 with Starbucks in hand. I thought I was going to eat my bagel in the car before moseying up to the door around 7:45. Boy was I wrong. There were already around 15-20 people in front of me and I ended up having to stand in a cold drizzle for a few minutes.

Lilly For Target Line

All of the women around me were ranting about the website and some drove in from the suburbs to visit my hipster Target. They were visibly upset about the website. I said something about how the Lilly sales always crash the site and a soccer mom shot back ‘Well this is different. It was worse.’ The line was experiencing some #FirstWorldProblems that’s for sure.

Eight o’clock finally rolled around and they let us in the door. Everyone booked it for the clothes when I ran (not a small feat in jelly jacks and a piko dress) to the home wares. I was one of the first people there and got EVERYTHING I wanted in the home section. I ran back to the clothing but it was too late. Everything was gone. One lonely XXL dress hung on the Lilly for Target rack. When I blinked, it was gone too.

Lilly for Target Fitting Room

After rifling through the beauty products, I went to go wait in the fitting room area waiting for cast offs with the other Lilly lovers. I ended up getting a pair of WAY too big shorts, a shift dress and another dress for a friend. I bought some baby clothes for my sister’s friend then I finally checked out.

I spent triple what I thought I was going to spend but yet, I want more. Why? I have no clue.

I think I’ve visited Target at least half a dozen times since the launch. #LillyForTarget has become my obsession. I’ve gone during my lunch break and after work. I ask customer service and the fitting rooms for the castoffs. But, are those pom pom shorts really worth it? Would I even want them this bad if they were readily available? I think I just like the thrill of the chase.

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Is it April 19th, yet? The Lilly Pulitzer for Target lookbook has gotten me even more excited for this collab, if that’s even possible.

// All Pictures are from Lilly Pulitzer x Target

I love everything. I’m still a little hesitant about quality but the prices are too good to pass up! I’ve started to create my wish list. The top item is the blue and white pom pom shorts. I dont think they will look good on me but I don’t care. I NEED those shorts. I also am obsessed with all of the print dresses and the romper.  Those printed coffee mugs are also a must-have for my coffee nook. I need to whittle this list down a little bit, well– a lot, but I’ll be staking out my Target on April 19th to get some of the fabulousness!

Saturday in Atlanta: Orpheus Brewing and The Nook

Orpheus Brewing tours in Atlanta

This weekend was a Saturday Funday! My friends and I headed to Orpheus Brewing in Midtown (right by Piedmont Park) to try something different than our beloved Sweetwater. It was slightly chilly in the A, so the tasting room was pretty empty at first and bit cold. Once the room filled up it was a lot warmer and more fun. I even played corn hole… second time in two weeks and newsflash, I’m still completely horrible.

Orpheus had Atalanta, Lyric Ale, Transmigration of Souls (an IPA)  and one brew on tap. (I can’t find it on their website.) I tried the Lyric Ale and the Atalanta. Both were alright but nothing I would buy on my own. I liked the Atalanta a tad more, but I seemed to be the only one among my friends. They didn’t like the sour taste. The beer is a plum saison according to Orpheus’ website and won Beer of the Year last year by Atlanta Magazine.

After we drank our tickets worth, we went to The Nook on the other side of Piedmont Park for some food, basketball and more booze. I’ve always wanted to go to The Nook but it’s been PACKED for brunch every time I’ve tried and we end up somewhere else. Now I see why it’s so popular.

Bloody Mary from the Nook  Buffalo Chicken Totchos from The Nook

I had one, or two, delicious Bloody Mary and some Buffalo Chicken Totchos. Totchos are The Nook’s signature menu item and they have 4-5 different varieties. Think of it like nachos but with tater tots as the base. I’m starting to believe that all nachos should be this way. I think everyone loved what they ordered. I’ll definitely have to go again and get one of their (in)famous fish bowls.

Some Blog Info…

In case y’all are wondering, my domain name expired and that prompted me to peek back into my blog. I wanted to renew my domain but it was going to cost me an $80 late fee!! Cue * OMG Emoji Face *. I’m going to see if I can snag my domain back, but, for now, I’m going to be floridaonmymind.wordpress.com.

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to get back into blogging, Three, almost four, months later and here I am! I have some great blog posts planned for this month and I’m so happy to be writing again.

I have a lot of travel coming up. I’ll be traveling to Lexington, Kentucky tomorrow for work.  I will be visiting the University of Kentucky’s campus and I’m excited to see #BBN in person. I’ll also be going home to Southwest Florida for Easter so be on the lookout for these travel posts in the future. I took a trip to Disney to visit my little Diamond Sister a few weeks ago with a stop in Winter Park, FL. I had a blast on that trip and some blog plans for the million and one pictures I took.

If you’re new to my blog, leave a comment and say hi. I love connecting with new people!

Kiss Me I’m Irish

I know St. Patrick’s Day is this Monday but, let’s face it, this drinking holiday is celebrated on the weekend.

I’m going to be going to a parade and then day drinking all day with some friends so I want to wear something casual and festive but still cute (for all of these Instagram posts). Here’s what I’m thinking about wearing.

St. Patricks Day Style | www.flonmymind.com

Polyvore Set

I have a green top that I’m going to pair with jeans. I wish I can pair it with that orange necklace from Bauble Bar but I sadly don’t have it. (It’s going on my wishlist for sure!) So, I’ll probably end up wearing some cheap beads. I’m going to be wearing boots in case it gets muddy and a cute cross body so I can be hands free.

I’m also going to Target tonight in hopes of finding some cute buttons and maybe a koozie. Hopefully, it isnt sold out of St. Patrick’s Day stuff by the time I get there.

Are you doing anything fun this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day? Let me know in the comments below!

How to Shop the Lilly Pulitzer Online Sale

Tips for shopping Lilly Pulitzer online sale | www.flonmymind.com

It’s coming… The Lilly Pulitzer New Year Cheer Sale starts tomorrow at 8 a.m. sharp.

If you’ve ever shopped a Lilly sale before, you know the online sales brings out the pink and green crazy in people. For a couple years now, the Lilly website has shut down and it cause people to lose items in their cart. The brand normally shuts down their site and they have it running by the afternoon. These server glitches bring out the nasty in people and they complain everywhere (not gonna lie, I’ve sent a fun angry tweets too).

Hopefully this year they FINALLY have the computer problems worked out. Lilly Pulitzer has a great New Year Cheer Sale FAQ on their website but these are my tips to get the best Lilly deals tomorrow.

P.S. If you want to see my haul from last year, click here

Lilly Pulitzer Online Sale Tips

– Pre-load your credit card information. This makes your checkout easier. Lilly offers free shopping so checking out often ensures you get the item. Check out their FAQ for more information about this one.

– Be online at 7:59 a.m. Stuff sells out fast and this is the only way to get everything you want. I’ve seen stuff sell out in under a minute. This is the only way to get the best deals.

– Check out every time you find something you want. If you pre-loaded your info this won’t take too long. You are not “guaranteed” an item if it’s in your online tote which means YOU ONLY GET THE ITEM IF YOU GO THROUGH CHECKOUT. Lilly offers free shipping so check out with each item to make sure it doesn’t sell out while sitting in your online tote.

– Check the scarves, accessories and shoes first. The scarves and shoes are ALWAYS the first to sell out. If you have a murphee on your wishlist go to that section first. I’ve seen murphees as low as $19 or $29. I’ve seen shoes (especially wedges) go quickly too.

– Check the Signature Stores to look through their deals. All of Lilly’s Signature Stores (i.e. your local Lilly store)  will be participating too. Check out the Re-Lilly Facebook page to get the scoop on Signature Stores.

– It’s Final Sale but don’t let that stop you. Sure it’s final sale but you can use Re-Lilly to sell an item if it doesn’t fit. You can also check the page to look for items that sold out before you could buy them.

– Check Rue La La in the next few weeks for Lilly. Lilly Pulitzer is on Rue La La a lot. After the last sale, I saw Lilly on Rue and there were a lot of the same items. Some were pricier but most were cheaper. Don’t have a Rue La La account? Sign up via my referral code. I’d love you forever!

– Chill out, it’s just clothes. If we get the “oh shift we broke the internet” message again just take a breather and get some actual work done. It’s just clothes. If you don’t get everything you wanted it just means it wasn’t meant to be.

Think About What You REALLY Want (What You Really, Really, Want) This Christmas

Christmas is exactly a week away, say what?!?!?! I can’t believe we’re almost out of of 2013 and moving into 2014.

I know I’m mainly getting money for my birthday/Christmas so I decided to do a little inventory of my closet before I go spend crazy at the mall.

I don’t know if I’m the only one but when I get my birthday/Christmas money everything I’ve been eyeing goes out the window and I end up on this weird shopping spree of just random stuff I think is cute but not things that I really wanted. This especially happens with clothing.

So this year, I’m itemizing my clothing before I buy. Now I’m not going to bore y’all with the number of jeans or button downs I have but I am going to delineate some key items still needed in my work and play wardrobe.

What I'm Wanting This Christmas | www.flonmymind.comSkirt / Tempos / T-Shirt / Burgundy Pants / Khakis / Workout Pants / Dress / Boots / Heels

Here are some key elements still missing from my wardrobe…

Work pants and skirts. I have acquired a lot of work tops but I havent bought as many pants. I really want a pair of navy pants and maybe a nice gray pair. I would also like to add color to my wardrobe with some fun, patterned pencil skirts.

– Black boots. I finally got a pair of tall brown boots but now I need some black boots.

Weekend shirts. So on Friday I’m going to be 24. I can’t be seen rocking the comfort colors sorority shirt every weekend. I need a dressier weekend look that actually includes non-stretchy pants now that I’m a grown up. I have some plain tees but I would love some nicer t-shirts to wear while on errands during the weekend.

Work out wear. I only have 2 pairs of yoga pants. I would love to have some more workout bottoms so that I don’t have to do laundry as much.

Winter dresses. I have lots of dresses for Spring and Summer but practically none for Fall and Winter. I think dresses are the easiest things to wear to work and I’m all about that hobo style.

Work heels. I have bought about three new flats but I haven’t bought any new work heels and I’m in desperate need for a black pair.

Now these are just the clothes that I think I need this year. I definitely want a lot more things (that I will probably not get).  Check out my Pinterest board for some of the other items I’m wishing for this Christmas!

What do you need to round up your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments below!

College Going Out vs. Post Grad Going Out Style

When I went out in Miami I realized a few things. One, I’m old and two, going to the bars in college and going out post grad has two completely different styles.

Now, as a post-grad, I dress up a little more but this polyvore set was the norm for undergrads when I went out in Miami.

Colege Going Out style

I don’t think I would have ever rocked a crop top but my weekend uniform in college was jorts, a tank top and my jacks/sandals, regardless of the season. I never wore wedges, heels or anything that needed to be dry cleaned. But now, I can’t really get away with that in Atlanta.
I also want to add that this is not a South Beach outfit. Miami undergrads go all out for SOBE. This is more for college bars which is my favorite type of scene.
Here’s more of what I wear now…
Post Grad Going Out Style

Post Grad Going Out Style by nancyjoben featuring blue jeans
Madewell dress / Chevron top / J Crew black sequin tank / J.Crew blue jeans / J.Crew j. crew shorts / Vegan shoes / Tory Burch flat shoes / Necklace / Tory Burch tech accessory

This polyvore set correlates with what I wear out now. Atlanta is a city where girls don heels and statement jewelry with a silk top and skinnies on a Thursday night. I even tried to wear wedges in Miami and my friend was like “what are you doing?” I think dressing up just kind of stuck.
I still dress a lot more low-key than some other Atlanta girls. When it was warmer out, I wore my jacks maybe a little more than I should. I’m not sure if it’s because Florida is so laid back, the influence of SEC schools on the Atlanta party scene or what? But Atlanta definitely has a dressier dive bar scene.

Do you dress up more for a night out now that you’re out of college?
Do people dress up for the weekend at your university?
